Green Fleet Management Policy

Abbeyprint use their own vehicles to visit and deliver to its customers who are based all over the country the majority of which are within the Lincolnshire area. This requires significant driving by the staff of AbbeyPrint. As delivering is a critical part of our business we aim to run a green fleet which reduces its impact on the environment as well lowers CO2 emissions. In total we have 4 vans which are driven and maintained by our staff

Our Green Fleet Policy Management is supported by the following guiding principles:

  • Managing fuel consumption

We currently monitor the use of fuel consumption in our vehicles. Using this data we aim to reduce our fuel consumption over the next year between 2 – 3%. Currently our vans represent 10.7% of our carbon footprint
  • Reduce Mileage

Look to educate customers to collate orders for weekly rather than daily deliveries and ask suppliers to look at their stock levels to avoid less back orders enabling us to only deliver once instead of making repeat visits.
  • Promotion of Energy efficient vehicles

We continue to use where possible energy efficient vehicles. We currently use 4 diesel vehicles which are more energy efficient and results in lower emissions than petrol equivalents and are looking into using an accelerometer to access drivers efficiency.
  • Driver Education

Abbeyprint promote careful driving which avoids harsh acceleration and heavy braking which helps with better anticipation of the road ahead. Driver safety is paramount in our business and each company driver is required to drive within the rules and regulations of the highway code.

Our vehicles have a full road maintenance service record. The following measures are carried out by our staff on a weekly basis to ensure our vehicles run efficiently:

  • Tyre pressures and treads inspected
  • Water and oil lever top ups

We offer a free used cartridge and toner collection service to our customers – these are then sent away for recycling and any monies raised are donated to local charities. To date we have raised over £5000.
