The 6th June 2019 marks the 75th anniversary of the 1944 D-Day Landings. The Normandy veterans’ charity, D-Day Revisited, launched a 75 Reasons To Thank Our D-Day Veterans campaign to raise £250,000 for a national garden tribute. The ‘D-Day 75 Garden’ has been exhibited at the Royal Hospital Chelsea during this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show (21st-25th May).
The garden celebrates the lives of our Normandy veterans; 75 of whom were invited to take part across the week to share their incredible stories with the Chelsea pensioners and the public.
With surviving veterans now approaching 100 years of age, this will be the final opportunity for the nation to express their gratitude and ensure a lasting legacy to these valiant men and women.
The garden has now been gifted by the veterans to a permanent site in Normandy.
The “D-Day” team from FreshLinc HQ travelled in their individually decorated FreshLinc HGVs to transport the garden from the Chelsea Flower Show to its final location in Normandy.
AbbeyPrint supplied the team with FreshLinc decorated polo shirts and also a number of yellow high vis vests for all staff involved in the erection of the garden at the Flower Show. The vests were printed with the D-Day logo, #dday75garden and details of how members of the public could text their donations to support the cause. And keeping Health and Safety very much in mind, the vests were printed with a FreshLinc logo in a reflective material to ensure visibility during their night crossing on the ferry.
AbbeyPrint are proud to have been involved with this project.
