We are known for our involvement in the community and are proud of our local environment, so were thrilled to be invited by the ‘Flytipping Watch Boston & Spalding’ to take part in a litter pick for the Charity Organisation Keep Britain Tidy in Spalding. Our very own Managing Director, Helen Slinger, was more than happy to volunteer her services to such a worthy cause!
So, on Tuesday, 26th March, 2019, Helen swapped her business suit jacket for a high visibility vest and a pair of rubber gloves, then completed the look with a litter picker! Once kitted up Helen and the rest of the team went about clearing the litter from our local streets using state of the art equipment belonging to the South Holland District Council Pride Team!
This event is ran in conjunction with the SHDC Pride team. Spalding Bus Station, Chatterton Tower and Gore Lane were cleared of litter by the Flytipping Watch volunteers and the SHDC Pride team.
Further events for the Great British Spring Clean are planned over the next few weeks from the 22nd March to the 23rd April, details of which can be found at www.sholland.gov.uk/keep-britain-tidy or alternatively join the Flytipping Watch Spalding & Local’s Facebook group to help stay up to date with the local tidy ups in Spalding, Pinchbeck and other surrounding areas!
Keep Britain Tidy are calling on #LitterHeroes across the country to help improve the environment on their doorstep. They are aiming to inspire 500,000 people to join forces – in partnership with community organisations, businesses and the government – to collect and safely dispose of litter from our streets, parks and beaches, recycling as much as possible.
Abbey Print have joined in to help tidy up, not only our local community but also as part of a movement to help tidy up Great Britain.
We were truly honoured to be approached by South Holland District to provide the lead of the 2019 Great Spring Clean. We’re committed to improving the visual image of the historic market town, and we certainly achieved that.
The revitalisation and regeneration of towns, villages and grot spots remains our vision. We have an ever-developing membership across our 3 Flytipping Watch Facebook groups, with a fourth launching imminently. We’d like to offer our special thanks and gratification to Helen from Abbey Print who kindly joined us for the duration, assisting with the Great Spring Clean.
